Supervisory authorities are becoming increasingly aware of the impact of climate-related and environmental risks (CER) on the financial sector. One of the first steps to meet the requirements is to identify and assess the CER-drivers and their impact on the bank’s risk profile. This can be challenging due to the considerable uncertainties in this field, especially with respect to the long time-horizons of impacts. In this post, we present a risk identification and assessment process for CER which can be adapted to the required level of sophistication.
